Centennial Banquet (Philadelphia)
The Lambda Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. has been in existence for almost 91 of our great fraternity’s 100 years. On January 8th, 2011, the official, National Centennial Founder’s Day was held at the Sheraton Hotel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. What a great honor and privilege it was for Lambda Spring 2009 initiate and Polemarch, Brother Anthony T. Powell, Jr. to give the welcome address on behalf of all the undergraduates in Pennsylvania. According to Brothers Sam and Anthony Patterson, the chair and co-chair of the National Centennial weekend, there were over 1300 registered brothers from all over the world in Philadelphia to attend this historical event, not only in Kappa, but in the country. Brother Powell states, “Of all of the Brothers that have been in the bond for many more years than I have, in Philadelphia, and the world in general, I was privileged enough to be asked to do the welcome at our Centennial Founder’s Day, it is a moment in my life that I will forever cherish.”
