Undergraduate Leadership Institute – Delta Class

Congratulations to Brother Anthony T. Powell, Jr. for being selected to attend the Undergraduate Leadership Institute – Delta Class in Cincinatti, Ohio from June 5th – 12th. This particular class of ULI was a very competitive class to be accepted in to. This class had applicants from all over the United States and across the seas. Only the best, of the best were accepted to the Delta Class of ULI. The reason this class was so competitive is the fact that this was the first class to be sponsored by an outside company; that being General Electric (GE). General Electric invested money into each participant and expected great things. Over the course of eight days the 48 scholars that attended were worked, questioned, advised, and taught. The overall goal of these eight days was to help build Brothers that would return to their respective Chapters and make positive contributions to their Chapter and Kappa at large, while at the same time sharing the knowledge they acquired while at the Institute. Over the course of the eight days the major aspects of the Institute were the educational lectures and guest speakers, including the Grand Polemarch of Kappa Alpha Psi, accomplished judges, doctors, and lawyers; all of which were Kappa men. In addition, there were group physical challenges, group discussions, and group (Chapter) meetings, which all served the purpose of building bonds between young Black males that had come from many different places. Overall, there was much to be taken away from the whole experience and the experience itself is a privilege many would benefit from, but most will not experience. The Lambda Nupes are privileged to have be led by a Polemarch who has experienced such an opportunity.
